Captivating jazz with a raw, open spirit and sparkling finesse.

Sox2 is a new trio from pianist Myra Melford, with Ingrid Laubrock on saxophone and Lesley Mok on drums. Together they create a sense of bundled energy in which every gesture is intense, every interchange amplified – a single spark from Melford’s piano can lead off into multiple textures, while Laubrock’s saxophone line can take unexpected directions, and Mok’s playing reshapes time into ever-changing organisms.

The explosive trio creates music from interwoven grooves that twist and unfold, harmonies that break into prismatic songs, improvisations, and full fiery intensity with stuctural elasticity.
