Argentinians Daniel Almada and Martin Iannaccone and their band Tango Crash offer an exciting mixture of tango, jazz and electronic music.
Almada and Iannaccone can justifiably claim to be among the pioneers of electrified tango. In doing so they have always deliberately gone their own way, never letting themselves be influenced by commercial trends in tango. Basel-based composer and pianist Daniel Almada combines his innovative treatment of classical tango with acoustic and electronic instruments, creating a fascinating, animated and expressive soundscape of a type that has never been heard before and for which tango remains the substrate.
The original quartet line-up has been augmented by Martin Klingeberg on trumpet, who brings additional textures and highlights to the sound. The five musicians will be showcasing their fourth album Accidente de Tango with shared passion. The influence of the 1970s jazz rock typified by Miles Davis, Weather Report and Joe Zawinul can be heard on this latest recording.
