The members of the Juarez Moreira Quinteto all have their musical roots in Belo Horizonte, an epicentre of Brazilian music. Juarez Moreira has firmly established his reputation as a top guitarist and composer abroad as well as at home. He often performs solo, delighting audiences with his special blend of Brazilian ingredients interpreted his way.

Juarez Moreira taught himself guitar at the age of 12. His breakthrough came in 1978 with the celebrated pianist Wagner Tiso. Bassist Stephan Kurmann has spent time living in Brazil and has played with Moreira countless times. Cléber Alves is a master of colour on the saxophone, while Ricardo Fiuza is a brilliant pianist. The quintet plays members' own compositions and selected Brazilian standards.
